Pman Biennial National Delegates Conference 2016 Communique

re-elected-pman-president-pretty-okafor-being-declared-winner-of-the-election-by-pman-secretary-general-kenny-ama-george-as-others-look-onFollowing the successful hosting and conclusion of the 2016 edition of the Biennial National Delegates Conference of the Performing Musicians Employers’ Association of Nigeria (PMAN) held at the DE-VINE HOTEL AND SUITS, OPEBI IKEJA LAGOS on Tuesday 4th October 2016, the conference recorded the attendance of 24 states Chapters of the Union which by far exceeded the required and mandatory one third of the entire functioning State Chapters of PMAN and therefore formed quorum as stipulated by the PMAN Constitution.

ELECTION OF NATIONAL OFFICERS

After the consideration of the items on the agenda, the number of candidates for the various posts and offices being vied for were adopted; the house agreed that there was only one candidate for each post without challengers. By a unanimous decision of the house therefore, all the contesting candidates were elected and returned un-opposed accordingly.

Those elected to run the affairs of PMAN for the next two years are:
1. Mr. Pretty Okafor-President, 2. Mr. Sunny Neji-1st Vice President, 3. Mr. Zaaky Azzay-2nd Vice President,
4. Mr. Tolu Obey-Fabiyi – National Treasurer respectively.

EX-OFFICIO MEMBERS

The 7 Ex-officio members who were also unanimously elected are:

1. Mr. Ruggedman 2. Mr. Felix Duke Osagie 3. Ms Elvina Ibru 4, Mr. Arthur Pepple Junior 5. Mr. Kofi Idowu. 6. Mr. Benny Paladin Edoga and of course Mr Asha Gangali respectively.

The two National Standing Committees of the Union, the National Projects Committee and the National Disciplinary Committee were also reconstituted with DCP Bosede Dawodu Rtd as Chairman of National Disciplinary Committee while the house resolved to shop for a sound and experienced business technocrat to head the National Projects Committee in the regard.

TENURE OF OFFICE FOR PMAN EXECUTIVE.

The conference also adopted a new four year tenure for elected National officers of PMAN while the state chapters are to enjoy a new term period of two years henceforth as against the previous one year tenure that were adjudged inadequate for any meaningful achievement by any regime of the union.

BARCODE REGIME IN NIGERIA

After debates and discussions on the Barcode Regime being introduced by PMAN for the protection of all music, film and other artistic works coming from Nigeria from undue exploitation which has been approved by the Federal Government, the conference expressed its profound gratitude and commended the Federal Government for the recent approval and specifically commended the Honorable Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Muhammed for his forthrightness and enlightened dogged position on the issue of Barcode which ushers in an era of economic prosperity for our nation and by extension the lives of creative artistes and investors alike.

OLIVE BRANCH

The conference also extended a hand of fellowship to our opposing menbers members and urged them to eschew bitterness and embrace peace in the interest of the union or be prepared to face necessary disciplinary actions as stipulated by the PMAN Constitution.

Finally, the conference in a motion moved by Muma Gee, a Delegate from Rivers State and supported by Mallam Sallam from Borno State, the house unanimously adopted the resolution assuring all individuals, Corporate organizations and Government Agencies doing any business or having any agreement with PMAN that the union shall continue to honour and respect all existing legitimate agreements and partnerships entered into with PMAN accordingly.
