A new “Proof of Life” video on at least 15 of the kidnapped Nigerian Chibok school girls by Boko Haram militants two years ago has surfaced.
According to CNN who obtained the video of some of the “Chibok Girls” which was sent to negotiators by their captors as a “proof of life”, the video had been seen by negotiators and some members of the government but no one had shown the parents until now.
The video is believed to have been made last December as part of negotiations between the government and Boko Haram but is believed to have been released by someone keen to give the girls’ parents hope that some of their daughters are still alive while motivating the government to help release them.

The girls in the video were seen having their hair covered and wearing long, flowing robes while being lined up against a dirty yellow wall with no obvious signs of maltreatment.
Three mothers of some of the missing girls were invited to see the video and also identify if their daughter were amongst those in the video.
In some of the pictured heartbreaking scenes, the women can be seen breaking down in tears as they recognise all of the pupils lined up in the recording.
One of the mothers at the viewing, Rifkatu Ayuba catches sight of her long-lost, desperately missed, now 17-year-old daughter, Saratu Ayuba. “My Saratu!” she wails, reaching out to the laptop screen, the closest she’s been to her child in two years. She is desperate to comfort her little girl but helpless.
According to Rifkatu, “I felt like removing her from the screen,” as she was desperate to pluck Saratu from the mysterious location where she is being held and bring her home. “If I could, I would have removed her from the screen” she added.
