- OGD’s Daughter, KEHINDE Opens Up
+The Story Of Her 4 Brothers
Penultimate weekend, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, the former Governor of Ogun State had his 60th Birthday at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos and it was a big party that had all the trappings of the society milieu. At the party and for the 1st time, Otunba Gbenga Daniel stepped out with his children accompanied by their mother, Yeye Olufunke Daniel. The children were all over their parents and one thing that you will notice about them is their humble nature which was gathered that they took after their parent. They were down to earth and accorded every friend and guests an accommodating gesture beyond measures.
They were seen running around for their guests to make sure they are comfortable and also to make sure it was a hitch free day for their father. Amongst his 5 children who graced the occassion were his first born, Rotimi, Adebola, a set of twin (Taiwo and Kehinde) and Oluwamayowa. Accosting Kehinde, the only daughter of the former Governor was a pleasant one and even when it looked as if she was not going to talk about her father, she took out time to talk about the man whom she termed a “quiet and prudent father”. She revealed many of her father’s side that many people don’t know.
She said ‘’I feel very happy and grateful to God for allowing my daddy to reach 6 milestones of his life. I wish him long life and prosperity, many more years of success, greater things to come and in all I wish him well. She shared her growing up days and also life as governors daughter, for me life was very good, I had a very good growing up years, I had a very good childhood. Being a governors daughter never rubbed me off my private life, no it never did, even though some people tried to rub me off that but I never let it happen. I just take people for what they are, I relate to them normally and treat them the way they treat me, it has not changed me and never will. I feel safe, I don’t feel insecure with all the security details, It has become a norm. On some of her father’s traits she took after, “yes I am very prudent and also very intelligent which I took from my father, you don’t just spend anyhow, my father preaches prudency and I am very modest and hardworking as well which were all my fathers character”. Not leaving her mum behind, she says, Yes my mother is very beautiful in and out, she is the rock of our house, she holds everything together, my dad and we the children. Without her, we wouldn’t have gotten this far let’s just say, she is very caring, she has a big heart and always put everybody before herself no matter the circumstance. Many people also don’t know my father is very quiet and very private, people might think because they are in the public eye that they are very public but No, my father is the quiet type, it is just that politics has made him to be a public person.
About her educational background, I attended Christ the Cornerstone International School ,Ikeja then also I attended Atlantic hall for a year, I graduated from the University of Tottenham and I am currently doing my ACCA now’’.
Also her younger brother, Olumayowa had some things to say about his father, “I feel happy for him, I feel happy that many people came together to celebrate him, I am grateful on his behalf, I am happy seeing him happy, about his personality, being quiet is just my character. As a person I really don’t make noise. On his father’s qualities? It has always been hard work and thoroughness and being appreciative and been successful as you can in whatever you do, he talked about his growing up years, growing up for me was very good, my mother is always there much more than my dad though because he was always busy then but he always find time to come around, when he was in government, all through the 8 years he had many things on his time line but he was always there for me. In government, we were always quite restricted, whenever we want to go out, we would have planned very well on how we will move, so with that, him being in politics also has an effect on my private life. My father cares a lot for people, he has inner feelings for a lot of people and that is why he likes to help people, he is a very strong man. He is a very patient person, he goes all out to do whatever he wants to do and make sure he makes success out of it. Olumayowa is also a product of CTC International School.
These are some of the laudable things the children said about their father, Rotimi too also described his father as one of the best he could ever have, the marriage which produced 5 children, has Rotimi as the first son who is 30 years old, Adebola is the 2nd born and he is 24, while they had a set of twin, Taiwo ,a boy and Kehinde, a girl, age 23 and the last born is Olumayowa who is in his teens, 17 years precisely.
