He said the donation was part of the revolution taking place in his domain. “The revolution is not about violence, but demonstration of ideas aimed at impacting the lives of the people,”
He explained that as a king, his responsibility was to serve the people by looking after their spiritual and physical welfare.
The monarch said this informed his decision to introduce health care scheme and other lofty ideas to develop his domain and extend the gesture beyond.
“We have brought in Modern Health care equipment worth several billions of naira for donation to public hospitals in Osun State, he explained. “We are going to start the donation from Iwo town and gradually move to other towns till we cover every public hospitals in the state. We are partnering with a Canada-based association to equip the hospitals.

“In the Education sector, we are going to donate laptops in large quantity to the Osun State University in Osogbo and Bowen University in Iwo. We are also bringing many containers loads of textbooks from abroad for our tertiary institutions in Osun State. As a king, I am doing this to assist the people and the government.”
He is also into free feeding. He said the free feeding programme he introduced was part of his roles as a royal father to his people.
He said the feeding programme did not discriminate against anybody.
Anybody who is hungry is free to walk to the palace and eat”. He said.
“Kings are to serve the people, they are not installed for ceremonial purposes alone. Kings have to protect, feed and clothe their people.
People should not be hungry in a city where there is a king.
“When you talk about kingship, it is something that is divine. Kings should be responsible for the development of their people.
“Kings should have many intervention programmes in place for their people’s needs during crisis. Even when there is no crisis, kings have to be vigilant on what is actually the problem of their people. That is what kingship is all about.”
The monarch, who also spoke on the impact the cultural aspect of the intervention would make in the lives of the people, stated that he was pioneering a revolution in the use of one of the Yoruba fabrics, ofi, to make contemporary clothes like suits, jackets and jeans, so that they could be exported abroad.
He explained that such idea would create jobs for youths and promote Yoruba culture.
Akanbi said, “People should not think that embracing modern ways of doing things is abdication of tradition. I am one of the Yoruba obas who believe in tradition.
“Many people use other fabrics to make agbada. Lace, and Ankara are not our fabrics in Yoruba land. What belong to us are Ofi, adire and teru and we can use them to make suits and jackets for export.
“I am going to wear a suit made of Ofi. With that, I will be promoting the culture and be giving more people jobs. Let us use our own fabrics to make clothes for the white people so that they can spend their money on our economy. Let us use our own fabrics to make clothes that pupils can wear to school and workers can wear to their offices. Through that, our economy and culture will develop.
“Ghanaians wear kente to promote their identity. Let the 170 millions Nigerians too start wearing clothes made from local fabrics. If we can do that, we will start exporting the clothes before long.”
