History was made on the 29th of April, 2016 as the legendary African-American music icon Jermaine Jackson, the brother of the late Michael Jackson paid a courtesy visit to Rainbow fm (The Complete Spectrum in Entertainment).
Jermaine Jackson and his entourage were warmly received by the Chairman of North West Radio Limited (Owners of Rainbow Fm) Otunba (Dr) Alex Onabanjo who was full of praises for the Jackson family, emphasizing how they shaped the music industry in the past 50 years.
Live in the studio of Rainbow Fm, Jermaine showered encomiums on the Nigerian entertainment industry for not only dictating the pace in Africa but also positively impacting the world. Jermaine also spoke about the 50 years anniversary of the Jackson 5 on stage which gave birth to the Jackson Global Golden African tour.
According to him, the event, billed to hold in September 2016 will showcase the Jackson 5 at their best, reeling out award winning evergreen songs they are known for.
Rainbow’s On Air Personality, Olawunmi Olaboye a.k.a. Boyelicious was in her best elements as she deftly engaged Jermaine and members of his team in a vivacious interview that held Lagos, Ogun and other coverage areas of the station spellbound.
On the secret of remaining relevant in the ever-competitive music industry, Jermaine commended his parents who recognized early their unique talents and provided the platform for them to thrive.
Jermaine said Nigeria is home to him and family and used the opportunity to unveil his plans to establish a music school to help the country’s budding artistes.
When asked if he had preference for any Nigerian food, he replied” I am a vegetarian, so I like rice and plantain, I try as much as possible to stay off spicy meals’.
To crown the memorable event, Chairman of Rainbow fm, Otunba (Dr.) Alex Onabanjo re- christened Jermaine, OMOBOWALE, a Yoruba name that means the child has come home.
Rainbow Fm staffers, Niyi Akinremi (Skyman), Dulcie O’Dwyer, T- Quest, Tosin Ayeni added a lot of spice to the colourful event.
